Prioritization project
Prioritizing Quality Improvement Elements RAI-MDS 2.0 and RAI-HC
Funded by the Knowledge Brokering Group
The RAI tools for long term care facilities (RAI-MDS 2.0) and home care (RAI-HC) were implemented in Alberta during the period that the KBG was funded, and issues around implementation and use of the data from the RAI assessments were a major area of interest for KBG members. Also, during this period, Continuing Care Standards were promulgated by Alberta Health and Wellness, as part of a major initiative to support high quality continuing care in the province.
One of the questions that arose during implementation of the RAI tools was how to prioritize the large number of Quality Indicators and Client/Resident Assessment Protocols (CAPs and RAPs) that are generated from RAI data. This project was funded by KBG as a preliminary effort to get viewpoints from stakeholders in the continuing care sector about which areas are regarded as high priority for quality improvement and safety.
